Speakers

Disassembling and reassembling cars for GT Racing, my remote-controlled car racing team, prompted me to examine the beauty inside mechanical components of many objects in my life - an old speaker, in this example. After disassembling the speaker, I observed the mechanism that makes speakers work and was surprised to find that speakers produce sounds via magnetic pulses. I found the galvanized metal that reflected light in an array of colors especially interesting. All of this inspired me to compose a still life piece with marker and pen, that highlights the beautiful insides of our ordinary objects.
