Pikes Peak Hill Climb

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, also known as “The Race to the Clouds,” is one of my favorite car races. This 12.4-mile course takes place from 9,000 feet to over 14,000 feet above sea level. Air is thin at such high elevations, so vehicles racing at Pikes Peak must be customized for these conditions. This has given fans like me the chance to see many crazy designs over the years.

I created this piece as a tribute to the Pikes Peak track. Experimenting with a wide range of materials—from Post-It notes to iron nails—I sought to capture the diversity of design solutions inspired by the challenges of this race. Each material represents a different approach to overcoming physical limits, mirroring the spirit of ingenuity that has made Pikes Peak a high point in both the automotive and design worlds.
